A hobby channel I started in the beginning of high school back in 2011, the Zeta5 channel used to host various Pokemon related videos that I uploaded between 2011 to 2014. In 2019 following the release of the game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in late 2018, I overhauled the branding of the channel to its current state, featuring videos about the game specifically on the playable fighter Ridley.

The channel features a number of gameplay clips ranging from small tutorials to humorous shorts, but the main attraction lies in my highly edited gameplay montages which feature high level gameplay accompanied by music and editing to enhance the viewer experience. These videos have amassed thousands of views and alongside my shorter videos, have given me a small following.

Below are a couple examples of my best high effort work available on the channel.

A 5 minute gameplay montage video using content from the game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with the character Ridley. The title is a play on the fact that the song used in the video is called Space Invader by Dave Rodgers, as well as the fact that despite his appearance, Ridley is a space pirate in his home series Metroid.

Unlike my previous montage videos that just featured clips tied to music, Like a Space pirate is exceptional in that it featured custom music mixing combined with an assortment of the clips to provide a more unique experience.

The original song by Dave Rodgers actually has two versions, one in English and one in Japanese, both sung by him. By combining the two together and changing versions mid-video, I created an audio cue in the language of the song informing the visuals on screen. When the English lyrics play, I show clips related to Ridley using a specific aerial kicking move. When the Japanese lyrics play, I show clips of Ridley's special "skewer" attack. Adding on to this, I use clips unrelated to either attacks while the instrumental parts play, and the final section of the video features back and forth swapping between languages and their respective type of clip.

I then ended off the video with a highly edited special victory screen that homages the one that can be found in the fighting game "Dragon Ball FighterZ" (DBFZ) along with music from that game to act as send off before concluding. This involved getting footage of DBFZ in order to swap between layers in Adobe Premiere to match the victory screen frame by frame for accuracy and effect.

The video overall took me 15 hours to develop, time spent playing the game not included, and is currently the golden standard video of the channel.

RIDLEY CRAZY (2020)

A 5 minute gameplay montage video using content from the game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with the character Ridley. The title is a play on the fact that the song used in the video is called Drivin' Crazy by Ace.

In this video I wanted to prioritize showcasing my exceptional gameplay skills so unlike similar videos I've made below, this one does not have as many visual edits, but instead has a stronger focus on gameplay timing with the music with some transitions scattered throughout.

One aspect of the video I liked creating was syncing the highlights of the song's lyrics and instrumentals with a strong attack in the game footage. After the first few times it begins to function as a way for viewers to anticipate the next big moment of the video.

I spent around 15 hours creating the video with about 3 of those hours being dedicated hand picking the best possible footage to use, not including time actually spent playing the game. The video received good reception from people familiar with the game.
